Loch Muick

Thank you for considering Hillgoers for your guided walk to Loch Muick in the beautiful Balmoral Estate.  Please get in touch with us before purchase to agree your preferred date/s.  Our local, qualified guides will be delighted to share their excellent knowledge of the area and nature within. Red deer stags are often seen by the loch, as are wading birds, and occasionally a glimpse of the magnificent golden eagle. There is an informative visitor centre to explore too when in season and open.

Queen Victoria’s Lodge (Glas-Allt-Sheil) is situated on the banks of the loch, it is easy to understand why she chose such a location as her retreat from Balmoral.

Meet Time, Location & Estimated Walk Duration

Meet at the Spittal of Glen Muick visitor car park at or pick up from your accommodation (subject on location and availability).

There is a charge to park of £5 for the day.

This walk can take 1-5 hours depending on your aspirations for the day.

Joining Details & Kit

Joining details, participation forms and kit lists will be sent out the week before the walk
