Join us for a guided winter hill walk into the Monadhliath mountains this March! We will be exploring the south east of the mountain range near Newtonmore. This walk provides a good opportunity to view local wildlife (the area’s a great place to spot mountain hares) and explore the rolling expanse of hills west of the A9 with the hope of reaching Munro level weather permitting, whilst brushing up on winter skills that you currently have.

Prerequisites

To be an active summer hillwalker and have some previous winter walking experience using crampons and an ice axe. Although skills will be practiced and refreshed along the way, this is not a trip for people with no winter hill walking experience.

Location

Newtonmore gives good access to the Mondahliath mountain so please meet us at the car park behind the Letterbox Restaurant on Glen Road at 08.15am.  Here you will meet your guide, discuss your plan (weather and underfoot conditions dependent) and then head off to your start point.

 Joining Details & Kit

We can provide ice axe, crampons and helmet but you are welcome to bring your own. You will need winter boots capable of taking a crampon.

Joining details, participation forms and kit lists will be sent out before the course.

Please have a look in our shop, we can post or deliver items to you at the event. All participants receive a 15% discount on goods (except gift vouchers, sale items and books.
