Starting from Balsporran Cottages car park, this ideal beginners walks will take you up the rolling hills east and west of the Pass of Drumochter. Why not make the travel easier and spend the weekend at the lovely Balsporran Bed and Breakfast These hills offer exceptional views, especially west to Ben Alder and down to the long Loch Ericht.

Geal Charn (white hill) 917m
A’ Mharconaich (place of the horse) 975m
The Pass of Drumochter (Druim Uachdair – high ridge) is the main mountain pass between the northern and southern central Scottish Highlands. At 460m the pass provides a reasonably elevated start point for this walk. As well as the views, there is a good mix of wildflowers and wildlife too.

Meet at the Balsporran Cottages car park 8.45am for an 9.00am start
Estimated duraction of 5-6 hours, 12km, 730m ascent.
