Glen Affric Hostel Weekend

Join us for a guided weekend exploring the Munros around the Glen Affric Hostel, with two nights stay in the hostel included.

Friday: Meet at the car parking area just off the A87 circa 3-4pm then walk into the hostel which is about a 10km walk (3 hours). Once at the hostel you can have something to eat and get ready for Saturday. Timing can be agreed around everyone’s travel and work commitments.

Saturday: Walk the group of 3 Munros that are north of the hostel, staying at Alltbeithe hostel provides a good opportunity to do these The Munros:

• Sgùrr nan Ceathreamhnan

• Mullach na Dheiragain

• An Socach

Estimated duration of 9-11 hours, 20km, 1490m ascent.

Sunday: Walk back to the car over a couple more Munros:,

• A' Chralaig

• Mullach Fraoch-choire

Estimated duration of 6-8 hours, 13km, 1150m ascent.

Price: £195pp, includes hostel and George for the weekend! You will need to supply your own food.

Hostel details:

The hostel is quite remote and therefore reasonably basic but it does have toilets, washing facilities (no hot water...), a wee shop and a kitchen. You would need to bring food for the weekend and a sleeping bag/pillow, we will give you a full kit list and suggestions for food if that would help.

The hostel has 4 bedrooms – 2 two-bedded in the main building and 2 ten-bedded, which are 20m away in a separate building. Please note there is only availability in the 10 bed dorms. These are shared droms and some bunk beds but we can ask not to have bunks potentially! There are 2 flushing toilets, 1 indoors and 1 outdoors. Each dorm has a cold water washbasin and no heating. All public areas are well lit with ceiling lights and carpet/wooden flooring. There is a guest lounge on the ground floor which seats 12 people. The room has a mixture of seating with fitted benches and dining chairs. The self-catering kitchen is on the ground floor. There are 2 hobs, 1 oven and grill, but no fridge or microwave. There are no laundry facilities at the hostel, though a small drying area is available. There is a small shop on-site, selling soft drinks, juices, chocolate, crisps, healthy snacks and a selection of pouch meals.
