This superb mountain walk’s a true Scottish classic! It has a bit of everything - ridge walking, fantastic views (if you’re lucky!) and a real feeling of remoteness, not to mention the four Munros that you’ll summit! 

The Grey Corries are a well known sight on the west coast skyline, especially from the Commando Memorial north west of Spean Bridge, and are characterised by the layer of grey quartzite scree streaming down off their summits.

Most people decide to do the normal circuit of three Munros and then come back another day to tick off the outlier, Stob Ban. This is somewhat perplexing as doing all four adds around 1 hour 30 minutes (5km and 230m ascent) onto your day but to come back and do it it’d be 6-8 hours (18km and 910m)….for this reason we’re aiming for all four!!

The four Munros you’ll be summiting:

Sgurr Choinnich Mor (1094m) big mossy peak

Stob Choire Claurigh (1177m) peak of the corrie of brawling

Stob Coire an Laoigh (1116m) peak of the coirre of the calf

Stob Ban (977m) white peak

This is a big day and the terrain is rough, rocky and steep in places. There will be some pathless sections on grassy, tussocky slopes. This is a Level 5 walk, for more information of walk grading click here.

Meet Time, Location & Estimated Walk Duration

We’ll meet at 0745 at the free carpark to the rear of Spean Bridge Wollen Mill and then head to the start point in as few vehicles as possible.

Distance - 25.5km

Elevation - 1850m

Duration - 9 to 12 hours
