Dates: 2nd September
Location: Fort William
A mountain that needs no introduction by a route that presents the finest feature of this giant mass, the North Face.
This walk has a bit of everything: views of the grandest array of cliffs on any Scottish mountain, an airy scramble across the Cart More Dearg (CMD) arete and a 360 degree panorama from the summit as far as Rum and Skye…if you’re lucky!
The normal route up Ben Nevis is by no means a push over and is enjoyed by thousands every year but an ascent by the CMD arete allows you to summit two Munros, Carn Mor Dearg and Ben Nevis, and takes you on an excellent adventure around the highest mountain in the UK, you’ll also be avoiding the hoards for much of the day!
Munros:
Ben Nevis (venomous hill) - 1344m
Carn Mor Dearg (big red rocky hill) -1220m
This walk requires a good level of fitness and a head for heights. The arete is an easy but long scramble and the terrain will be boggy and pathless in places. This is a Level 4 walk, for more information on walk grading click here.
